TRAFFIC
ANALYSIS OFFICER
Following are
a few of the functions of the Traffic Analysis Officer:
Oversees the
scheduling of repairs and maintenance of the department's fleet of vehicles,
Ensures that
department vehicles are properly equipped and in a state of readiness for use
by officers and employees of the department,
Maintains
mileage and repair records on all department vehicles
Oversees all
radar equipment owned by the department and along with scheduling any repairs,
maintains records on repairs and re-certification testing of the radar units.
Facilitates
the enforcement of the city's abandoned vehicle ordinance and arranges for the
towing and disposing of vehicles found to be in violation.
Oversees all
breathalyzer equipment owned by the department and orders supplies as needed.
Ensures that
communications equipment, which is owned by the department, is maintained and
in proper working order.
Supervises,
trains and recruits a corps of Civilian Adult School Crossing Guards for
various school crossing locations throughout the city.
Identifies
locations where enforcement action is needed to gain maximum compliance with
traffic laws and ordinances and makes recommendations to the Patrol section
regarding special enforcement action needed.
Reviews all
accident reports filed through the Quincy Police Department to ensure quality
of reporting and to identify potential traffic problem areas.
Works with the
City Traffic Engineer on street conditions in need of traffic engineering to
reduce the probability of accidents and in conducting studies and developing
ways and means to improve traffic conditions.
Serves as a
member of the Traffic Commission and acts as liaison between the department
and the commission.
Compiles,
maintains and forwards to interested parties, statistics on motor vehicle
accidents occurring in the city.
